THE ART OF GETTING WHAT YOU WANT

I sometimes find myself getting caught up in the daily grind of life. Instead of chasing my goals, I find myself “accepting” what life throws at me. Instead of knowing what I really want, visualizing my ideal life, and devising a strategy to achieve it, I find myself settling.

We’re all guilty of it. Since we get caught in a cycle of “small” thinking, most of us never reach our full potential. We forget that we are still in control of our destiny.

This applies not only to your dreams and goals, it applies to whatever you wish to have in your life; whether it’s buying your dream car, losing weight, or longing to get back to your loved one. Unless you go or work for it, you will never get it. For instance, when you need something so bad and that keeps running in your mind; you can see it with open eyes; it keeps you alive and drives you crazy; believe me, you must work hard to set a target and accomplish it. Once you feel your goal is real, it could increase the likelihood of success in accomplishing it. In addition, explore your abilities and develop yourself according to them.

“The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, you will make it to a place called Success.”

-This quote has always intrigued me.

One has to understand that greatness is not achieved without fear and failure. Dreams will not turn into reality without a dozen failures. People who changed the world never played it safe; they were unafraid to go down the path they desired, and as a result, they were successful. These people were not the ones who never failed, but the ones who never gave up.

Thinking big requires thick skin. If your dreams are bold, plenty of people will say little things to discourage you from chasing your potential. The greatest achievers have to face this challenge all the time. Learn to ignore it, or consider keeping your dreams to yourself. Think big and be brave to let your creativity shine. Stretch behind your comfort zone and explore your potential. You’ll know you’re on to something when you’re overwhelmed with positive emotions. Most importantly, don’t underestimate yourself. Think big to live a life that’s fruitful and fulfilling. Think big to live a life that’s free of regrets.

And start today.
